It is a great pleasure to present to the readers of the Revista de Economia e Sociologia Rural (RESR) the edition with the best papers from the X APDEA Congress and IV Lusophone Meeting in Economics, Sociology, Environment and Rural Development, held in September 2022, in Coimbra-Portugal, where issues inherent to agribusiness, family farming and economic relations between Brazil and Portugal were discussed, which are key to the generation of foreign exchange and trade between these countries, who share historical relations.

In addition, the congress allowed us to further advance the internationalization process of Sober's Journal, discussing strategies and actions with other journals, showing that we are on the right track and faithful to our mission of “Publishing original articles and promoting exchanges among professionals in the social sciences in Brazil, encouraging scientific and technological development, and stimulating economic and social discussion internationally”, as well as having a solid foundation in good editorial practices (Silveira & Silva, 2020; Pesquisa FAPESP, 2022). In this sense, Sober's journal, classified as A1 in Qualis, will continue to be an important means for scientific debate, qualified for issues related to Economics, Sociology, and Rural Administration. To this end, we are improving and qualifying the editorial process, as well as making every effort to be indexed in the Web of Science in 2024, which will bring us up to the standard of the major international journals.

I am confident that the works in this issue illustrate didactically the level and qualification of the debates held in Coimbra in 2022, and we hope for more and more actions and partnerships like these, aimed at internationalization, the dissemination of knowledge, and the fruitful and healthy academic debate, which is key to building a more fraternal, democratic society that is aware of its role.
